Pope Benedict's Encyclical: God is Love: Deus Caritas Est (CD)

Pope Benedict XVI surprised the Church and world with the subject matter of his first encyclical letter, ‘Deus Caritas Est' that God is love. An encyclical is a letter from the Pope addressed to the Bishops and laity of the Church (originating from the Greek word ‘en- kyklo' which means ‘encircling'). Pope Benedict has a gifted intellect and is able to communicate great truths with great simplicity and clarity. In this letter the Pope addresses the theme of love: the creative love of spouses in marriage, the sacrificial love of Jesus for humanity, and the practical love of the community of the Church. ‘Deus Caritas Est' is an extraordinary tool to deepen in our understanding of the true nature of love.
